Can Sunderland hold on at Old Trafford-Preview

Manchester United face another stiff test at Old Trafford

Manchester United will be hosting the 2nd leg of the Capital One Cup f.After a 2-1 loss at the Stadium of Light in the 1st Leg ,Manchester United will hope to turn the tie around the Old Trafford match .Manchester United will play the match without their captain Nemanja Vidic ,who received a straight red card following a ruthless foul on Eden Hazard during United's 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge .But,Phil Jones' return to action will provide United depth in the midfield, which is exactly what they require. The Red Devils will field a side which will severely miss Robin van Persie and even Wayne Rooney who is still a doubt.  They are likely to field such a side-

SUNDERLAND:
After a close win over former England Champions Manchester United in the 1st leg of Capital One Cup ,Sunderland will be hoping to turn down the chances of Manchester United again in the 2nd leg. They do have a 2-2 draw against the Saints at the back of their heads but Sunderland will look to keep their composure to achieve the unthinkable.Sunderland will miss striker Steven Fletcher, who's injury was dubbed as a "little niggle" by Gus Poyet. But the former Spurs player and current Sunderland manager also confirmed that new signings Oscar Ustari and Santiago Vergini will play the game,or will come off the bench. Winger Andrew Johnson was the chief exploiter in the previous leg ,who's runs into the box turned out to be too difficult to track down .They are expected to field a side similar to this one-

PREDICTED SCORELINE-
Manchester United 2-1 Sunderland.
Considering the current form both sides are going through,Sunderland look  to be the clear favorites to advance .But very few have the knowledge of an important factor in this one.It is that whenever United have won the League Cup,they have lost the first leg of the Semi-final.So,that is something which Sunderland must be clearly aware of if they really want to pull out an upset at the Theatre of Dreams. But,if United fail to keep Andrew Johnson contented with a little amount of space around the box,Sunderland are sure to prevail.

Manchester with only 37 points are going through one of their worst year.

The Match

In Summary

  • Full-time: Chelsea 3-1 Man Utd
  • Samuel Eto'o scores hat-trick for Chelsea
  • Hernandez pulls one back for United
  • Vidic shown straight red card late on

It was not like United did not tried at all;they made some desperate attempts to get past Chelsea's defences but none of it seemed to work.

At the 78' Hernandez scored after a corner kick.
It's not like this was a flash to the old Barcelona Eto'o, either. None of his goals would make a career highlight reel, and were all attributable to poor defending. The neat little shoulder fake that sent his marker into convulsions for his first goal was cool, but even that doesn't totally explain why Phil Jones bit so hard for it. The latter two were complete disasters: the second had him completely unmarked yet played onside in the heart of the box, and the third was a simple rebound of a wide open Gary Cahill header.
