The World Cup campaign was a disastorous one
Tipped to lay their hands on the prized World Cup trophy, the English Cricket Team simply failed to prove their mettle in Bangladesh , when it was due to be proven.
Now,well they arguably ran out of luck in their opening encounter against New Zealand owing to the D/L method ruling made by the umpires. But,the weaknesses were being clearly reflected in the way they played against each of the sides they faced, excluding their victory over Sri Lanka.Their bowling misfired in almost every game and the bowlers failed to get a grip on the game.
They conceded buckets of runs in their games against the big guns but their showings with the bat must be thoroughly commended. But,everything fell apart when they got " ditched" by the Dutch.Peter Borren's resilient bunch of men pulled out an upset yet again by out staging England convincingly by 45 runs.Their batting let them down against The Netherlands
The likes of Jos Buttler,Moin Ali are still not giving their all. Jos is accustomed to making blunders behind the stumps and is constantly failing with the bat.Ali is also seemingly not good enough to feature in a World Cup as huge as this .
Alex Hales has proved why he's more than capable of launching a blitzkrieg on huge totals. The batting collapsed against the Dutch but you've got to admire the way they fought against the Lankans and the South Africans.
They have got kicked out of the grandest stage and there's no wonder why they falter every time .I would rate some players in the region of 9 but there's a tremendous amount of non uniformity in their performances.
Conclusively or to sum up, I will dedicate the lines of ImagineDragons' On Top of the World to the way they played in this World Cup-
I know it's hard when you're falling down
It's a long way up when you hit the ground
Get up now
