Mata's Nightmare Season

Chelsea's win over Hull City was not unusual. The Spaniard- Juan Mata was again left out on the sidelines with Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard doing the job for the Blues and bringing them to the top of the table.

After the win over the Tigers it was proved that Chelsea are also the major  contenders of the title race and the thinking of Mourinho is right to some extent. The " Special One " thinks that the squad doesn't need the Number 10 anymore. That is why since October it said that the Spaniard might move away from Chelsea and join RMA or PSG or Spurs. Juan Mata might be interested in joining Manchester United although the Devils have already been said to propose a  27 Million bid for the little Spaniard.

The Spaniard combines very well with the young Eden Hazard. But according to Mourinho, it is good to keep Mata on the bench which is really foolish.
Mourinho possibly would have kept him in the starting squad if the Blues were not in the top 4. But since they fortunately are in the top 4, Mata is kept on the sidelines.

The question is why has Mourinho benched the player who is capable of scoring goals and has a very good pace?

Mourinho has said that Hazard has been guaranteed a spot on the left flank position and there is no arguing there. The 23- year old Belgian has been the best player of the Blues in this season. He has scored goals and has delivered passes with flair and dexterity  other team mates.

The young Brazilian- Oscar is playing well in the center by putting pressure on the defenders of the opposite team.
Willian and Schurrle have come up as good players of the side and have proved that they deserve a role in the team from now onwards.

Chelsea should rather have a man in the staring-11 squad who has set-piece mastery, blazing speed and makes selfless decisions on the pitch- Juan Mata.

With 135 appearances Mata has scored 33 goals and has given 58 assists. Keeping his age in mind, he is the player that Chelsea would need to win competitions and he really deserves to be in the team as he is loaded with experience.

The Spanish wizard can fit into any position in the formation. From right winger to behind the striker. This is the reason he is given the Number 10 shirt. He is probably one the most versatile player in the Premier League but at this point of time he needs more appearances from his side to show his skills.

From Chelsea's point of view it is pretty shameful to waste such a talent.
They must be looking forward to their Round of 16 match of UEFA Champions League against Galatasaray in late Feb. And according to me Juan Mata should be playing in both the legs against the Turkey giants.

So what is to be done about Chelsea's forgotten back-to-back player of the year? How should Mourinho deal with his incredibly talented attacking midfielder who has undoubtedly been the spark of Chelsea's offence since his transfer from Valencia in the summer of 2011?
It's quite simple, really. Include him.
